The Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts promotes research, scholarship, teaching, production and exhibition of film, providing access and opportunity for UC San Diego students and scholars to pursue a passion in cinematics arts.
New Major in Cinematic Arts Premieres
The interdisciplinary program blends theory and production of film, offering more than 90 courses spanning visual arts, communication, literature, ethnic studies, sociology, history and theatre and dance.

Alison O’Daniel named Suraj Israni Chancellor’s Endowed Chair in Cinematic Arts
Filmmaking is just 150 years old, and Alison O’Daniel sees the field as rife for invention. As a visual artist and filmmaker, she explores accessibility, sound and listening across media. She recently joined UC San Diego as the inaugural Suraj Israni Chancellor’s Endowed Chair in Cinematic Arts.
