2024 Inaugural Fellowship Forum

2024 Fellowship Forum

A Showcase Celebrating Cinematic Ingenuity | May 25, 2024 | UC San Diego

Join us at the inaugural Fellowship Forum to discover and celebrate the diverse cinematic visions of fellows from the UC San Diego community in a first-ever showcase of their work.

This event will highlight the projects of the 27 student, staff and faculty fellows from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts. The fellows each received support towards work steeped in research or production, resulting in the development of short films, documentaries and feature-length projects that push the boundaries of how we define cinematic arts.

The topics are wide ranging, from the ways artificial intelligence (AI) distorts our realities and conceptions of self to the narratives of conflict and violence in Columbia’s mining industry, to a story of how South Korea’s first male fashion designer connected disparate ethnic and political communities.

The event will include opening remarks by Center leadership, a short discussion with several fellows about their projects, a series of micro-screenings to offer a sense of the breadth and depth of their work, and a celebratory reception with light refreshments and photo opportunities.
